Lifting Straps serve the purpose of keeping the grip strong and secure so that the bar does not slip. In the pull portion, the lifter creates a tremendous amount of power output and straps keep the bar secure in the lifter’s hands. When a bar slips, the form is lost and the pull fails.
Perhaps the number one benefit of using straps is that they allow you to fatigue the target muscle without worrying about your grip failing first. As for non-competitive lifters, there’s no doubt that they will help you make strength and size gains that lead to more strength and size gains.
